Blumenthal and Donahue Agency has been around for nearly 40 years. We are a bit different than the normal insurance agency. We don't have a storefront office; we operate out of home offices. We are farm insurance specialists. We insure all types and sizes of farms. Since we are located in New England we have developed a great program for hobby farms. In our region there are not a lot of huge farm operations as one would find in Nebraska or Iowa. Most of our farmer clients have somewhere between a half and hundred acres. They are Christmas tree growers, beekeepers, sheepbreeders, organic farmers, horse people, berry growers, pumpkin growers, nurseries and dairy farmers. Many have farm stands on their farm property and many sell their farm products at local farmers markets. We have clients who grow unique salad greens and herbs and we also have clients who grow sweet corn, tobacco or tomatoes.

We insure hundreds of hobby farms. A typical client has 1 acre of land, he grows blackberries and sells them at the local farmers market. The farm market requires that he produce a certificate of liability insurance naming the farmers market as an additional insured. We convert the hobby farmerís homeowner policy to a farmowner policy. The farmowner policy provides everything that the homeowner policy did PLUS FARM AND PRODUCT LIABILITY. We can even cover pick your own operations. Farm vehicles can also be insured with realistic, competitive rates.

A farmowner policy can be customized to meet specific requirements. We have special programs for members of the Connecticut Christmas Tree Growers Association, Connecticut Beekeepers Association, Connecticut Sheepbreeders Association and the Northeast Organic Farmers Association.

We are licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. In addition to farm insurance we also write homeowner, personal auto and umbrella insurance. We also have expertise in all types of commercial insurance, truckers insurance, special events, etc.
